Description

PREDHEAL (Methylprednisolone Aceponate): Your Ally Against Skin Inflammation

Composition:

PREDHEAL OINTMENT Each gram packs a punch with 0.1% w/w of the potent anti-inflammatory corticosteroid Methylprednisolone Aceponate.

Clinical Pharmacology:

Upon topical application, PREDHEAL goes to work, tackling inflammation, itching, and blood vessel constriction. It binds to internal glucocorticoid receptors, triggering a cascade of anti-inflammatory effects by blocking the release of inflammatory mediators.

Pharmacokinetics:

PREDHEAL concentrates its power on the outermost layer of your skin, gradually decreasing deeper inside. It transforms into its main metabolite, 6αMethylprednisolone17propionate, within the skin.

Percutaneous and Systemic Absorption:

  • Studies reveal slightly higher absorption in individuals with skin conditions compared to healthy skin. Occlusive dressings boost absorption, so use them with caution.
  • Once absorbed, the primary metabolite quickly becomes inactive. Your kidneys efficiently eliminate the byproducts.

Indication and Usage:

PREDHEAL stands on the front lines against inflammatory and allergic skin reactions. It effectively tames redness, thickening, edema, itchiness, and more. Atopic dermatitis, eczema in children, contact eczema, and degenerative eczema all fall under its domain.

Contraindications:

PREDHEAL raises its shield against viral diseases, tuberculosis, syphilis, and certain skin conditions. It won’t engage in friendly fire, so avoid applying it to the face if you have rosacea, acne vulgaris, or perioral dermatitis. Hypersensitivity and use in children under 4 months are also off-limits.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

Proceed with caution during pregnancy and lactation. Weigh the benefits carefully, especially for extensive use or large areas.

Warning and Precautions:

Keep PREDHEAL away from your eyes. If bacterial or fungal infections develop, seek specific treatments. Be alert to potential hypersensitivity reactions and monitor for side effects like adrenal suppression.

Drug Interactions:

Data on interactions with other medications is limited. Consult your doctor for guidance.

Adverse Reactions:

Locally, in rare cases, itching, burning, redness, or vehicle sensitivity may occur. Clinical studies indicate a 4.7% incidence of such reactions. Prolonged use on large areas may lead to skin thinning, visible blood vessels, and other skin conditions.

Overdosage:

Excessive dosing is rarely seen, and acute intoxication is not expected with PREDHEAL.

Dosage and Directions for Use:

Apply PREDHEAL thinly once daily to the affected areas. Generally, treatment shouldn’t exceed 12 weeks for adults and 4 weeks for children.

Storage Instructions:

Keep PREDHEAL cool (below 30°C), shielded from light and moisture.

Presentation:

PREDHEAL (Methylprednisolone Aceponate) comes in handy 5g and 10g tubes, in both cream and ointment formats, each containing 0.1% w/w of the active ingredient.

Important Note:

For your safety and optimal use, consult your healthcare professional before using PREDHEAL. Report any side effects or concerns you may experience.
