Epilene Gel: Your Topical Acne Solution
Composition:
Epilene Gel 15gm: Each gram contains Adapalene 1mg (01% w/w)
Pharmacology:
Epilene (Adapalene) is a chemically stable, retinoid like compound Its precise mode of action is not fully understood, but it is believed to normalize the differentiation of follicular epithelial cells, leading to reduced micro comedone formation
Indication:
Epilene (Adapalene) is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate Acne
vulgaris
Dosage and Administration:
- Apply Epilene gel to affected areas after cleansing in the evening
- Gently apply a thin layer of the gel while avoiding contact with the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes
- It is not unusual to experience an initial exacerbation of acne in the early weeks of treatment as the medication works on previously unseen lesions
- Visible therapeutic results typically appear within eight to twelve weeks of consistent treatment
Warnings:
Epilene should not be used by individuals with a known hypersensitivity to adapalene or any of
the components in the vehicle If you have sunburn, it is advisable to postpone the use of Epilene gel until your skin has fully recovered
Precautions:
- Minimize exposure to sunlight during Epilene application
- Weather extremes can be harsh on skin treated with Epilene gel
- Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, angles of the nose, and mucous membranes
- Do not apply to open cuts, abrasions, eczematous skin, or sunburned skin
- Some cutaneous side effects, such as erythema, dryness, scaling, and pruritus, may be experienced, with higher frequency in the initial two to four weeks of treatment These side effects typically diminish with continued use
Drug Interactions:
Use caution when combining Epilene with other potentially irritating topical products, soaps, cleansers, and cosmetics containing high levels of alcohol and astringents Particular care should be taken when using products containing sulfur and salicylic acid concurrently with Epilene gel
Carcinogenic Potential:
Adapalene, the active ingredient in Epilene gel, did not show mutagenic or carcinogenic activity in studies
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Consult your healthcare provider before using Epilene gel if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning pregnancy, or uncertain about its safety for you. Limited information exists regarding its safety in pregnant women.
Use in Children:
The safety and effectiveness of Epilene in pediatric patients have not received establishment.
SideEffects:
- Pruritus or burning may occur in approximately 20% of patients using Epilene gel
- Less than 1% of patients may experience burning/stinging, erythema, sunburn, and acne flares
- These side effects are most common during the first month of therapy and tend to decrease in frequency and severity with continued use
Over Dosage:
Use Epilene only on the skin; applying excessive amounts won’t speed up results and might cause peeling or discomfort.
