Composition:
Valisone Lotion contains Betamethasone Dipropionate (USP), a fluorinated corticosteroid active topically, showcasing anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive actions. It also features Salicylic Acid (USP) at 3.0% w/w, recognized for its keratolytic properties, and Clotrimazole (USP) at 0.1% w/v, an effective antifungal agent against various fungal skin infections.
Indications:
Valisone Lotion effectively treats various dermatological conditions, including:
Relieving inflammatory manifestations in resistant or severe psoriasis Managing corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses Combatting fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungi Addressing conditions like athlete’s foot, thrush, ringworm, paronychia, intertrigo, fungal nappy rash, and more Ideal for managing psoriasis, chronic atopic dermatitis, lichen planus, ichthyosis vulgaris, and seborrhea of the scalp.
Dosage and Administration:
Apply a thin film of Valisone Lotion, sufficiently covering the affected area twice daily—once in the morning and again at night.
Adverse Reactions:
Though generally well-tolerated, Valisone Lotion may lead to mild to moderate transient burning/stinging, dry skin, and secondary infections. Other possible local adverse reactions include itching, folliculitis, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, and more. In cases of salicylic acid-induced symptoms of salicylism, immediate treatment is crucial.
Precautions:
Avoid using occlusive dressings, which can increase systemic absorption. This product is not intended for ophthalmic use. Exercise caution in pregnant women and seek guidance from a healthcare professional. Prolonged use, particularly in infants and children, may interfere with growth and development.
Overdosage:
If hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression is detected, discontinue the drug, reduce application frequency, or switch to a milder steroid. Should signs of steroid withdrawal appear, supplementary systemic corticosteroids may be necessary.
Storage:
Keep Valisone Lotion stored below 30°C, away from direct sunlight, and out of reach of children.
