Composition:

Each film-coated tablet of SOFTIN contains 10 mg of
loratadine. The syrup version, SOFTIN 5 mg/5 ml, contains loratadine in a 5 mg
per 5 ml concentration

Description:

Loratadine, the active ingredient in SOFTIN, is a highly
effective and long-acting antihistamine with selective peripheral H1 receptor antagonist activity. Its chemical structure is ethyl 4(8chloro5,6dihydro11Hbenzo<5,6>cyclohepta<1,2b>pyridin11ylidene)1piperidinecarboxylate,
with an empirical formula of C22H23ClN2O2 and a molecular weight of 382.88

Pharmacokinetics:

Loratadine is well absorbed and extensively metabolized. It
rapidly reaches measurable levels in the bloodstream within 15 minutes, with
peak levels achieved approximately one hour after a single oral dose. Its
elimination half-life ranges from 18 to 24 hours. Importantly, the
administration of loratadine can be done with or without food, as food does not
significantly affect its pharmacokinetics. Studies have demonstrated that
chronic renal insufficiency and alcoholic liver disease do not significantly alter
the pharmacokinetics of loratadine

Indications:

SOFTIN (Loratadine) tablets and syrup are indicated for the
relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, nasal
discharge (rhinorrhea), itching, ocular itching and burning. Additionally, it
is effective in managing chronic urticaria and other dermatological conditions
related to allergies

Contraindications:

Loratadine is contraindicated in individuals who have
displayed hypersensitivity or idiosyncratic reactions to any of its components

Possible Adverse Effects:

Loratadine is generally well tolerated, with few reported
side effects. It does not typically induce sedation or anticholinergic effects.
Fatigue, sedation, headache, nausea, and dry mouth have been reported but are
rare.

Drug Interactions:

Loratadine does not potentiate the effects of alcohol.

• Body weight 30 kg or below: Not recommended

  older people): SOFTIN 10 mg tablets or SOFTIN syrup (2 teaspoonfuls) once daily
  or as advised by the physician
• For individuals with severe liver problems, consultation
  with a physician is advisable

Storage/Precautions:

Store SOFTIN tablets in a cool, dry, and dark place between
1530°C (5986°F) and SOFTIN syrup between 1525°C (5977°F). Keep all medicines out
of the reach of children
